Crossability relationship between wild cotton Gossypium armourianum and Gossypium gossypoides with American cotton

چکیده
The goal of the current study was to assess possibility interspecific hybridization for transfer jassid-resistant genes from two wild cotton species Gossypium armourianum (Kearney (2n=2x=26) D2A) and Gossypium gossypoides (Standley (2n=2x= 26) D6) into genotypes cultivated hirsutum. demonstrated that seeds were successfully produced crosses between G. hirsutum armourianum using tetraploid as a female parent. reciprocal cross did not produce any seed. None successful in combination with gossypoides. Most boll shedding 2-6 days after pollination. MCU5 x armourianum had highest germination percentage whereas; CO17x survival seedlings. With further backcrosses or chromosome doubling, segregants can be utilized introgression different relevant traits like sucking pest resistance against leafhopper whitefly along other insect pests. Toward Sequencing Cotton (Gossypium) Genomes
Despite rapidly decreasing costs and innovative technologies, sequencing of angiosperm genomes is not yet undertaken lightly. Generating larger amounts of sequence data more quickly does not address the difficulties of sequencing and assembling complex genomes de novo. The cotton (Gossypium spp.) genomes represent a challenging case. To this end, a coalition of cotton genome scientists has deve...

متن کاملGlobal analysis of gene expression in cotton fibers from wild and domesticated Gossypium barbadense.
Gossypium barbadense is widely cultivated because of its extra-long staple cotton with superior luster, silkiness and high yield. These economically important traits were selected during initial domestication of an agronomically inferior wild ancestor, followed by millennia of human-mediated selection. To reveal the effects of this history on the cotton fiber transcriptome, we conducted compara...
